For 2015, the anchor exhibit at Historic Mahon Hall will feature female abstractionists working in paint, wax and clay. Visit the artist pages to learn more about their and who they are. Barbra Edwards says of her work that "These current pieces have more breathing space; a kind of rhythm with line and form as I distill subject matter to it’s simple essence." Nicola Morgan describes her practice as "A delicate balance between the intended expression of an idea and the process of painting itself..." Margie Korrison admits that "Abstraction found me. It provided freedom to probe and question without the necessity to adhere and rely on existing light, people or scenes." Helen Ormiston Smith describes clay as a "luscious and seductive medium" which enabled her to express her "passion for rock and mountainous terrain, the landscape of her soul". Michela Sorrentino uses many mediums and often finds herself breaking the rules and mixing mediums such as cold wax, oil, acrylic, ink, gouache and charcoal. |
