Susan Benson

I was originally trained as a painter in the UK but over the years the public have seen my work as a designer of sets and costumes for theatres such as the Stratford Festival, San Francisco Opera and the National Ballet of Canada.

​On moving to Salt Spring Island three years ago I have returned to my first love of painting but my background in theatre still influences my portraiture and figurative paintings.

Over the years I have used many techniques but I work primarily in oils and acrylics and charcoal.
