Jill Louise Campbell Gallery
A well known artist on Salt Spring, Jill Louise Campbell, born and educated in Quebec in 1951, went on a study year at the Sorbonne, where she immersed herself in the museums and galleries of Europe. It seemed inevitable, as both an aunt and her grandmother were exhibited artists in Montreal.
She says, "Travelling throughout the world, a love of culture, dreamtime and natural landscape has taken me to India, Tibet, Peru and The American South West. Sometimes painting on the land, more often re dreaming my experiences and together with indigenous music I interpret my feelings. In my travels throughout France, Italy and Ireland I paint gardens, stone cottages held together with wisteria, blossoming roses and a century or more of warm patina that colours the sagging roofs. Painting is the tool I use to express my joy for living on Salt Spring Island and gratitude for the wonder I see in our world." address: 110 Purvis Lane (in Mouats Landing opposite the Treehouse Cafe) phone: 250 537 1589 email: jlcgallery@gmail.com website: www.jlcgallery.com |
