Jane MacKenzie graduated from Emily Carr University of Art & Design in printmaking and photography and continued her studies in textiles. She studied Tapestry weaving in the UK and India, which culminated in an 18 year weaving career. She now focuses on installation based work with found objects and materials.
My work is usually made with found materials, with an affinity for textiles. Collecting and gathering materials is as much a part of my work as is transforming it into a finished piece. I seek to find or reveal a truth or an emotional reality that I could not find with language with the materials I choose and how I use them. My work explores personal identity and how we know and reveal ourselves.
